About

The Conference

The aim of ICAM 2024 is to provide a platform for knowledge exchange of the most recent scientific advances and their applications in the fields of Applied Mathematics to strengthen the links in the scientific community. This event aspires to bring together leading academic scientists, researchers, industry persons, and research scholars to exchange and contribute to their knowledge, experiences and research outcomes on all the phases of Applied Mathematics. This conference topic refers to the frontiers of knowledge which includes: Operations Research, Mathematical Modelling, Analytical and Computational Fluid Dynamics, Fuzzy Mathematics and Optimization, Graph Theory, Numerical Analysis, Soft Computing, Dynamical Meteorology, and their applications in the real world. The topics are not limited but other topics related to the theme of the conference will also be considered.

The Department

Established in 1985, the Department of Applied Mathematics with Oceanology and Computer Programming has been committed to excellence. Over the years, it has evolved to offer M.Sc. and Ph.D. programs, along with several skill development initiatives. Despite its relatively short history, the department has excelled in both teaching and research. The curriculum covers a wide array of topics, ranging from conventional to modern subjects like fuzzy mathematics and soft computing. With effect from the 2023-24 session, the department's name has been changed to the Department of Applied Mathematics. Prioritizing the region's industrial growth and the significance of atmospheric and oceanic studies, the department focuses on areas such as Fuzzy Mathematics, Operations Research, Meteorology, Theoretical Computer Science, Graph Theory, and Fluid Dynamics. Despite limited computational facilities, book and journal resources, as well as fellowships and scholarships, the department's research output is commendable. It consistently publishes a significant number of papers in prestigious national and international journals annually. The department has served numerous NET/GATE-qualified scholars and teacher-fellows, many of whom have obtained Ph.D. degrees or are currently pursuing them. Students from the department perform admirably in national and state-level tests such as NET, GATE, and SET. Moreover, the department has played a pivotal role in promoting computer awareness in the region by organizing workshops and orientation courses on computer programming for school and college teachers. It also served as a resource centre for the CLASS project of the NCERT for a period. Many alumni of the department hold teaching positions or work in software industries in renowned institutions like IISc, IIT, NIT, and BIT, both nationally and internationally.
